Tonight, curled by the fire with five inches of snow in the 10 degree cold outside (-12 degrees celsius), I’m reflecting on the subject of this afternoon’s third lecture of the mentorship, the Chong channel. How extraordinary is that channel—containing not only the blueprint for the physical being, but the whole plan of one’s life.  It is revealed piece by piece from birth to death. If the body doesn’t settle into life well, and childhood comes with illness, one of the five trajectories of Chong’s may be called for. And what distinct frequencies they each have—the first is majestic in the lower abdomen with the establishment of life; the second is open and expansive with a slight tingle around the mouth as it lifts the essence of the blueprint up and out; the third has striking warmth and buoyancy; the fourth is a plunging, grounding, anchor to the soles of the feet; and the fifth is a broad channel burgeoning with a wealth of capacity for the generation and transport of blood and fluids. Their pathologies reliably reflect the connection between emerging illnesses and the self-neglect of not following one’s true path—blood stagnation, cold, prolapses, fatigue, digestive imbalances, reproductive illnesses, allergies, and so on. But how do we know what our true path is? How can we be on our destined path and avoid a great deal of illness? The answer can lie in the Mysterious Gate, a point or area also known as Kidney-21, located in the solar plexus, six “inches” or thumb-widths above the navel and half an “inch” to one side of the midline. Notice what piques your interest, hold it in your mind, breath steadily, and inquire of the Chong channel at that point whether that interest is a contender for pursuing. For example, if you experience the thought, “You should get a pair of binoculars and take up birding,” put your attention on the Mysterious Gate. Take your time.Imagine yourself out looking up into trees through your binoculars and feel into your breathing. Are you slightly excited and is your breathing slightly more open and more relaxed at the same time? If so, that’s a clear yes. Birding will turn out to be something significant for you. You’ll meet your lifetime partner, or an important new friend there, or someone will tell you about an apartment opening up, or you’ll hear of a new job, or you’ll find that you just love birding and it opens your heart and eyes. Whichever way it goes, you’ll experience increased freedom and therefore increased health.

Or you could go to your acupuncturist and ask them to conduct a Chong treatment. Together, you can enquire into your truths, your path. Focus on your breathing as you soak in the frequency of your own Chong channel. Ask yourself a genuine question. The Chong contains and can reveal the nature of the true self. The answer will arise.
