Journeying Into Ren and Du Mai, by Esther Planter

As I sit with the Channels, they continue to inform me in
surprising ways. My practice is to invite their resonant origins
to enter the treatment space. This consistently produces an
amplification of the Channel energetics. The felt sense of the
individual expressions of each pathway as a cooperative
participant of the entire matrix never ceases to amaze me.
While exploring the Ren and Du second trajectories, they
show up in ways unexpected. With Ann’s encouragement
and expansive holding of Classical Acupuncture, I
am sharing this perception:

When in session with a client, the Ren second trajectory
appears to be living inside the vertebral bodies as a beautiful
manifestation of Yin within Yang. There is a sense of quiet
purposefulness in its residence, assuring that the wellspring
of Yin continues its wisely tempered movement and source of
nourishment through life. Consider healthy bonding as an
expression of this dynamic relationship of Yin and Yang. Ren
allows us to feel whole and complete within ourselves when
healthy early attachments are formed. The steady container
of a loving and present caretaker, powerfully anchored in the
fierce Yang of protective love, and Yin nourishment on all
levels provide the seed for deeply fulfilling relationships. This
is an organic demonstration of the dynamic balance of Yin
within Yang and yang within Yin.

The Du second trajectory shows up as a Golden
spiraling thread within the deep Yin reservoir of the Ren Mai.
At first, my mind thought this odd. However, when one
considers the act of procreation, we see the microcosm of
this macrocosm— a sacred instance when Yang is
embedded in Yin. I have read that the egg is in fact the chooser of which sperm becomes the fertilizing winner. She
has upright and discriminating boundaries to both push out
and invite in. This, once again, demonstrates the inseparable
relationship of Yin and Yang.

Observing the organic intelligence that orchestrates this
miraculous dance of Yin and Yang is exquisitely expressed in
the entire trajectories of Ren and Du. Mysterious and
brilliantly reliable are the Channels and the Classical Chinese
Medicine Principles!
