ParticipantHello everyone!
I’m so happy this forum exists!:)
I had a patient yesterday who asked me: “what can I do to maintain the effect of the session?” Now, she didn’t mean dietary advice here bc I had already given her that. She meant it in a more general sense. So I said to her that I would suggest she stopped believing what her mind told her (she’s someone who suffers from stress, insomnia, a lot of cogitation). Whenever she realized the mind said something that made her feel bad or made her uncomfortable, to acknowledge it, realize it’s not helping her and ask it to stop and try to relax and release. I told her that when one is relaxed there’s space in the body and if there’s space, the energy can flow freely. This is what came spontaneously, but I was wandering what you guys suggest to your patients..?
Thanks,

ParticipantI think what I say is very very similar. I suggest they allow for space for healing and that anything is possible. I suggest they listen to their body and listen to what it is telling them because our bodies are amazing and constantly trying to help us. So if you feel the need to walk in the woods- do it; if you feel the need to sleep, do that. I also add that if they feel energetic, to be careful (I have patients who come in with fatigue, get acupuncture, feel great, then decide to do 100 tasks they’ve been meaning to get done- and exhaust themselves).
I suppose I try to create a mindset of possibilities and to try not to prescribe to thoughts (You must do this or that) but get in touch with their own instincts. I try to empower and get them to start cultivating their own sense of self care.
So… I think we are singing from the same song book. I’d love to hear others advice, too!

ParticipantAll of the above and just to keep working at it in terms of lifestyle (meditation, going to bed on time, having a peaceful home environment), dietary habits and the rest. The longer the client stays the course, the longer the results will last. I tend to keep it general unless I need to suggest specific recommendations for specific conditions.
Having said that, I find no matter how one delivers recommendations, most people tend to forget once they start feeling better. They’ll remember it while they are in a dire situation and then it goes out the door. Thankfully, there is a 25% that keep up with the recommendations and are serious. At least my experience.
