Dai Mai SDS needle technique

Hello community, can someone please let me know “the answer” or at least your view, on this.

When needling consolidating Dai Mai, the final point on the opposite side of the umbilicus at KD16 is needled SDS.

Do you do it in this order, or something different?

Insert needle at/beyond Wei level
Navigate to Yuan level
Vibrate the Yuan
Lift needle (with “empty” hand ie not moving or engaging Qi)
Grasp Qi at Wei Level
Travel with Qi to Yuan level
Travel with Qi back to Wei level

Hi Lois,

I am not sure if I understand your question correctly. The SDS or DSD technique is only used when you are doing divergent treatments. Dai Mai, being one of the 8EV’s, is not used in this manner. To consolidate, I recall Ann saying in one of the chats to basically tread from GB 26 towards the navel. So, one 2 cun needle from Gb 26 to Liv 13, then one from Liv 13 to Sp 15, on and on to Kd 16. You only need to do this on one side.

Given that we are working with an 8EV, then we would do the vibration technique to tap into the Yuan level.

Is this what you were looking for, or did I completely misunderstand your question?

Hi, Lois. I think it might help you to remember that the Divergent Meridians move energy between the Wei and the Yuan levels, which is so unique. That is why you use the needle technique that moves energy from Yuan to Wei, or from Wei to Yuan, that three-level needling that you were describing (deep-superficial-deep, or superficial-deep-superficial).

On the other hand, the Eight Extra meridians only work with energy in the Yuan level, so there is no three-level needling, you simply vibrate with the energy of the Yuan energies, which hooks you up to the entire Quantum Field and makes everything possible. I do a LOT of eight extras for this reason: I love hooking people up to the field of all possibilities!

I hope this helps explain why Divergent needling techniques don’t apply to Eight Extra meridians. (If I’m over-explaining, I apologize.)
