    Hi all,

I have noticed an interesting pulse in one of my patients and would like to hear thoughts on it…

On the left, when I tilt from the guan to the cun, I feel what I’m calling a “refusal” based on Ann’s book (pg 99) BUT instead of the pulse not “popping” in the cun and returning to the guan it pops really strongly in the chi position. He has strong pulses so it’s very clear.

I’m wondering if this has it’s own commentary and if anyone has any thoughts?

He knows he represses emotionals but not sure what or why. He’s seeing me to try and release his addiction to cocaine. He’s not sure why he keeps wanting to take it as he doesn’t really enjoy it anymore. He’s doing really well so we are both happy with the progress but I’m really curious about this pulse and what it might be trying to tell me…

    All insights gratefully received 🙂

    Hi Paul,

I’m not really good at pulse directionality, but I’ll give it a try. So you’re looking for LV Qi and Blood ascending/nourishing the Heart on the left. Maybe it pops at the Chi position because the LV is really incapable of making this vector. This would participate in the fact the patient has still the need to take cocaine, as he is unable to find nourishment and grounding in himself. Anyways there is something going as a counterflow, and you may try to treat it to see how it affects the addiction.
I’m looking forwards for another view on this topic as well!
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers,
    Antoine

Thank you Antoine, that’s very useful yes. I was thinking along the same lines. He’s doing really good with the addiction at the moment and we’re hoping to get more to the root of the reason for his addiction. I agree there is a link between this pulse finding.
    Many thanks
